Dean Castle

Style guides, logo design, graphic design, exhibition design, audiovisual media

The story of Dean Castle, Kilmarnock, Scotland is one of war, feuding families and craft, represented by the sword, snake and weave motif in the mark.

For the project I created several animated sequences that would tell the story of the site and its inhabitants spanning hundreds of years. The tale begins with the castle’s creation and then moves through the centuries at speed, through battles and feuds, the castle’s descent into disrepair and then finally to its restoration and opening to the public.

Along with the audiovisual media sequences I designed style guides, traditional displays, interactives, signage, external interpretation and augmented reality solutions to tell a very unique and utterly Shakespearean tale.
